Nick Edwards
Head of Field Incentive Programs Roche Products Ltd
After leaving Swansea University in 1983 armed with a Botany/Zoology degree I embarked on a teaching career in the Midlands. Five years later, thoroughly demoralised by chasing pupils for wearing the wrong colour socks and having the wrong tie length, I decided there had to be more to life and moved into pharmaceuticals (with Bayer) - and have never looked back! After a 'full' induction and training course - in the days when that meant the best part of six weeks, I was in front of my first GP.
After a move to hospital rep and then field trainer with Bayer, I moved to Roche in 1993 to launch a 'new' IV antibiotic, 10 years after it was launched in USA. I moved into sales management in 1995 and spent my managing in primary care or secondary care before moving into the office. I have worked as National Sales Manager in Transplantation, Head of Sales for Specialists Business Units , Head of Sales Excellence, and since 2009 as Head of Field Team Incentive programs covering all field based roles.
I have been a PSMG member for last six years or so and find it one of the best arenas for sales manager development, discussion and networking. The speakers are always of a high standard and it allows busy sales managers to keep abreast of industry and NHS changes, while having some fun.
